The
NHS Clinical Governance and Patient Safety Review of Powys LHB has
raised serious concerns about the safe provision of health services
within the county.
Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates said: "I fully believe that if the
local health board and county council work closely together this
will bring great benefits to the delivery of local community health
services.
"This
is vital to provide sustainable services for the future and to bring
stability to the delivery of health care, so that staff can be
reassured of the future of this service.
"I
hope this can happen quickly and that there is sufficient capacity
to organise our community services in Powys."
Kirsty
Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire added: “There are clearly
some concerning issues raised within the report about the safe
delivery of health and care services within Powys.
“Whilst I fully recognise that these issues need to be addressed
with urgency it is also essential that this report is used as the
stimulus to develop services in our community hospitals and increase
the support for our hard working staff and not be used as an excuse
to close our facilities.
“By working together with the staff, Powys County Council, the CHC,
neighbouring hospitals and local communities I am sure we can
address the concerns outlined by the report and ensure my
constituents have access to high quality services near to where they
live.
“I have written to Edwina Hart calling for her reassurance that this
report will not be used to close our community hospitals and I am
meeting with Judith Paget, Powys LHB Chief Executive next
Wednesday.”
