We need to take greater
action to protect our rural post offices. That was the view today
from Welsh Liberal Democrat AM, Mick Bates.
Speaking from the campaign trail ahead of next week's Assembly
elections Mick said:
"Post offices play a vital role in the make up of our communities.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats are committed to a Post Office network
that is thriving and provides a diverse range of services. We want
to re-introduce the Post Office development fund, which will help
branches in our most isolated communities remain open and become
more accessible.
"We want to investigate providing more services at Post office
counters. Let's start by getting free ATM's to be located at Post
Offices. Getting our hands on our own money can be hard work in
some places - something that becomes even harder when we learn we
have to pay for it.
"The Welsh Liberal Democrats also appose the abolition of the Post
Office Account card or any form of restructuring that causes
hardship for communities or individuals.
"A vote for the Welsh Liberal Democrats on May 3rd is a vote for
thriving post offices in our communities."
