Commenting on the news that
Plaid Cymru and Welsh Labour have voted in favour of a forming a
collation Assembly Government Mick Bates said:
“Plaid Cymru have given up the opportunity to lead a coalition
government with the Welsh Liberal Democrats and Conservatives in
order to prop up a Labour administration that they once said is
‘no longer fit to govern’.
“They have given up the opportunity to make history and give Wales
a new direction in order to work with a Labour party that during
their election they campaigned to ‘kick into touch’.
It’s going to be interesting to see how it all works out. The
Welsh Liberal Democrats may not be in government, but will provide
a strong opposition.
“Both I and my colleagues in the Assembly will be keeping both
Plaid and Labour in check and pushing for policies for a 21st
century Wales. We will push the government for real action on
poverty, affordable housing, the green switch, health services and
the rural services.”
