Mick Bates has taken his seat
in the National Assembly today, starting his third term as AM for
Montgomeryshire.
Mick, who was re-elected last week with a majority of nearly
2,000, made his way to Cardiff on the weekend to swear in as an
Assembly Member before returning for the first session today
(Wednesday).

Mick said: “I would like to thank
everyone in Montgomeryshire for electing me for a third time. The
next four years are going to be crucial to the future of our
communities. I will work with people right across the county, our MP
and other AMs to deliver the best deal for our communities.
“During the election people made it clear what their priorities for
the area are. I share those priorities and they will be my focus in
this Assembly term.
“In the next four years I will be working to ensure there is no
closure of hospitals. I will be working to make sure there is no
closure of schools. I will be working for better transport links. I
will be working for small business, lower business rates and a fair
deal for farmers. I will be working to ensure Montgomeryshire gets
the affordable housing it so desperately needs.
“Though it’s always great to win an election, now it’s time to get
to work. That’s what I plan to do and that’s what I look forward to
doing. Over the next four years I will continue to work hard for
Montgomeryshire, both at the Assembly and across the county."
