Members of the Valley Arts and Crafts Group travelled to Cardiff to
exhibit their pieces at the Welsh Assembly on Tuesday.
Wales’ political home needs more Welsh art on display, says
Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates.
Mick explained “When looking around the beautiful new Assembly building,
you could be in anywhere in the world. It is not enough that the
building was created from Welsh materials, it needs something more to
identify the Senedd building as Welsh, and what better than the work of
the many talented artists in Wales?”
Stan Jankowski of Valley Arts and Crafts, echoed Mick’s sentiment
asking, “Wouldn’t it be great to have Welsh artwork in the Assembly? We
took some fantastic examples of art and craft from our tiny corner of
Wales. I hope it will have inspired other AM’s to join Mick in
campaigning for a continuous display of Welsh art within the Assembly.”
Valley Arts and Crafts is a group comprised of dedicated people
committed to the creation, promotion and survival of Welsh art. The
group, which is based in Montgomeryshire, promotes the talent of Welsh
artists, keeping the culture and heritage of the country alive through
its art.
On
Saturday 10 February, the Valley Arts and Craft Group Shop opens its
doors to the public for the first time at Unit 3, Vyrnwy Craft Centre.
Why not pop in and see fabulous art from Montgomeryshire for yourself!
