Montgomeryshire farmer and AM, Mick Bates, has today welcomed the
lift on the decade long export ban on British beef.
Commenting Mick said:
“This is a great day for Welsh farmers. In recent months farmers
have had to put up with a lot of bad news, Movement on issues such
as the future of Tir Mynydd, the single farm payment and Bovine TB
have had a detrimental impact on the industry. Today we see the
first ray of hope - the first in Welsh farming for some time.
“Now that the European market for British beef has been reopened I
hope that France and Germany will act swiftly to bring their
domestic legislation in to line so that trading can begin as soon as
possible. Let’s make sure we open the markets through Hybu Cig Cymru
and give a real boost to Welsh farming.”
