At last week’s United
Nations Climate Change Conference in Nairobi, Kenya the UN Environment
Programme (UNEP) announced its “Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree
Campaign.”
Commenting Montgomeryshire
AM, Mick Bates said: “The UNEP’s Billion Tree Campaign is brilliant. The
goal is that recreating lost forests will also help biodiversity
flourish, reduce erosion, and improve water availability.”
“This campaign is a practical programme in which anyone can play a
pivotal role. It demonstrates how easily any person can help in the
fight against climate change.
“There are
other simple steps we can all practice to combat climate change. Other
tasks include driving less and turning off electrical appliances that
are on standby.
“The
Billion Tree Campaign highlights the undemanding ways we can all contend
with this growing threat. We must get measures against climate change
into every government policy. Let’s all work together to make climate
change a distant memory.”
