Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Montgomeryshire, Mick Bates, visited
Dyfi Raptor Experience on Monday to meet the famous African White
Back Vulture named George. The centre is run by Luce and Barry
Macdonald from their home in Machynlleth.
Mick said "These birds are spectacular! It was a real privilege to
see all the birds, but George is absolutely massive! I shall be
watching the skies above Machynlleth now for a glimpse of George, he
is certainly bigger than the red kites!"
Farmers have no need to worry about their livestock since vultures
only eat carrion.
"I hope that Barry and Luce are able to progress their plans to
develop a centre for education and conservation. They are well on
the way with school visits and fairs. Their enthusiasm and
knowledge makes them great ambassadors for the birds of prey.
Montgomeryshire is home to so many wonderful activities and
events."
