Commenting on a move by the Labour Assembly Government to withdraw £800,000 of funding for business in Powys, Montgomeryshire AM, Mick Bates said:

"This is terrible news for the economy of Mid Wales.  I can't believe the Labour Assembly Government have been so negligent in their calculations.  To withdraw £800,000 of funding is simply not acceptable.

"It comes at a time when the need for investment in business is at its highest.  In recent years we have seen a major decline in our manufacturing industry.  We need this funding to get our economy back on track.   

"I will now write to the Minister for Local Government, Sue Essex, and demand answers."
