Bates welcomes Assembly committee

Local Welsh Liberal Democrat AM, Mick Bates has today welcomed the National Assembly Economic Development and Transport committee to Newtown.

On the agenda is a discussion on the impact of recent job losses in manufacturing in Mid Wales and a discussion on recent developments in the Mid Wales economy.

Mr Bates said: “It is great to see the committee getting out of Cardiff Bay and up to Newtown.  We have been rocked in Mid Wales in recent months by job losses in manufacturing and it’s good to see the committee taking an interest.

“If we are going to grow as a region then we need to take economic development seriously.”
