Mick has visited Trefnanney School to discuss the impact of carbon
emissions and what steps the school could take to redress the
balance.

During the session children talked about what activities in the
school day generate the global warming gas carbon dioxide. It
concluded that trees soak up carbon dioxide. The children aim
to calculate the carbon they produce through going to school and
plant trees to offset the carbon.
Mick commented that "Planting trees to offset carbon emissions is a
useful tool, but ultimately we all need to use less and take better
care of the world resources. I am not aware of any other
school taking action to look at their own emissions and planting
trees to offset them, so I am really thrilled that they have decided
to do it at Trefnanney. It will be fantastic for them to be
the first school to do this - the first of many I hope!"
